Dear friends of music and art,
we are very pleased to present you the two musicians Georg Brinkmann (clarinet) and Marc Jaquet (piano).
Georg Brinkmann is known as a versatile musician. Besides classical music and accompanying storytellers, he has made a name for himself as a clarinetist in the klezmer scene. With the group “huljet” he won the cultural promotion award of the city of Fürth. He has toured worldwide with various projects. He taught at international festivals, is artistic director of the Bonn Klezmer Days and founder of “klezmerbonn”, an initiative that organizes music and dance events in Bonn.
Marc Jaquet studied church music in Cologne and completed his organ concert exam with Prof. Arvid Gast in Lübeck. From 2008 to 2016, he was cantor of the Reformationskirche in Cologne-Bayenthal and has been cantor of the Lutherkirche in Bonn since 2016. He was awarded 1st prize at the international organ competitions in Zurich (2011) and Korschenbroich (2017). A busy concert schedule has taken him throughout Germany and Europe. In 2014, the CD “Flight” was released, which he recorded together with Heiner Wiberny, saxophonist of the WDR Big Band.
You can look forward to a programme that focuses on the lyrical and narrative power of the clarinet: the selected works by Smith, Grandval, Aubine and Horovitz combine melodic elegance with chamber music colourfulness. Between dance-like passages, warm cantilenas and subtle humour, an evening unfolds that showcases the clarinet as a voice full of character – carried by the sonorous foundation of the piano.
At the same time, we would like to celebrate with you the opening of our new exhibition by Otto von Kotzebue (1936–2022), who was not only an outstanding artist, architect and adventurer, but also a good friend whose life we wish to honour with this exhibition. Let us immerse ourselves in the impressions of an artist who brought the souls of the two great nations, the USA and Russia, to the fore with imagination, melancholy, criticism and charm. A theme that never seems to lose its significance – especially in these times.
We are looking forward to your visit!
