Dear music lovers,

It is our great pleasure to welcome pianist Alicia Cobos Fernández-Cabrera and oboist Sergio Sánchez to the Musikstudio. Together, they will present a programme entirely dedicated to the musical world of Robert and Clara Schumann — an evening filled with romantic musical poetry, intimate nuances and passionate expressiveness.

The programme focuses on works that reveal a special affinity with the human voice, the imagination and sensitive storytelling: Robert Schumann’s Three Romances, Op. 94; excerpts from the Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102; the expressive Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70; and the famous Fantasiestücke, Op. 73. The programme is complemented by Clara Schumann’s Romances, Op. 22, which, with their delicate lyrical language and emotional depth, open up a charming dialogue with Robert Schumann’s works.

Further information about the musicians can be found below.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Warm regards,
Gabriele Paqué

Alicia Cobos Fernández-Cabrera, born in Madrid in 1997, grew up in a musical family that sparked her interest in music and encouraged her to begin studying piano at an early age. Alicia made her debut as a piano concert artist in 2014, performing W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 467 with the Conservatorio de Majadahonda Orchestra. Since then, she has performed in major concert halls throughout Spain. In 2015, Alicia participated in the Presjovem International Music Festival in Córdoba, Spain. In 2019, she performed L. van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Joven Orquesta Leonesa at the Auditorio de León in Spain. Alicia has given solo recitals at major institutions such as the Museo de Teruel, the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, and the Ateneo de Madrid.

Alicia is a passionate chamber musician. She currently performs with oboist Elly Saúll Guerrero Carrero, the former principal oboist of the Simón Bolívar Orchestra of Venezuela. They met while studying together at the Lübeck University of Music and have been a permanent duo since February 2024. They regularly performed joint house concerts in Lübeck, and in 2024 they gave a duo recital at the Barsinghausen Monastery. Alicia also performs regularly with Raquel Pérez-Juana, principal oboist of the SWR Symphony Orchestra, as well as with Sergio Sánchez, professor of oboe at the Lübeck University of Music.

During her studies, she received scholarships from the Madrid government in 2017, 2018, and 2019 in recognition of her musical achievements. Alicia was also a scholarship recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein. In 2019, Alicia won third prize at the Clamo Music International Piano Competition.

Alicia studied with Prof. Elza Kolodin at the Freiburg University of Music and with Prof. Konrad Elser at the Lübeck University of Music. She is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Chamber Music at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover. She gains further valuable musical inspiration through her collaboration with Prof. Diethelm Jonas and Prof. Christopher Oakden. Alicia is currently studying with Prof. Bernd Glemser at the University of Music in Würzburg as part of her concert exam.

Sergio Sánchez has been a professor of oboe at the University of Music since 2023 and served as principal oboist of the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra from 2019 to 2023. As a Baroque oboist, he has collaborated with ensembles such as Ensemble Zefiro under the direction of Alfredo Bernardini, Concerto Farinelli, the Bremen Baroque Orchestra, and the Il Suonar Parlante Orchestra under the direction of Vittorio Ghielmi.

Sergio Sánchez belongs to the young generation of versatile oboists who are equally at home with the modern oboe and historical instruments.

Between 2010 and 2017, he studied at the Lübeck University of Music in the class of Diethelm Jonas. In 2013–14, an Erasmus exchange program took him to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris to study with David Walter and Jacques Tys. In 2015, he won the International Double Reed Society Gillet-Fox Oboe Competition. From 2016 to 2017, Sergio Sánchez was principal oboist at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. In 2022, he completed his studies in Baroque oboe with Alfredro Bernardini at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.

As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Augsburg Philharmonic, the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, and the Teresa Carreño Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has participated in various international competitions and is a prize winner of the ARD Music Competition, the Chieri International Competition, and the Barbirolli International Oboe Festival and Competition, among others.

As a Venezuelan, it is important to Sergio Sánchez to promote the music of his homeland. With this in mind, he participated in the CD productions *Caramba* and *Barroqueanas Venezolanas*.

As part of the Venezuelan cultural project El Sistema, Sergio Sánchez received his first oboe lessons at the age of eleven. He gained his first orchestral experience in the Caracas Children’s Orchestra of “El Sistema.” As a founding member and principal oboist of the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra, he worked under the baton of Ulyses Ascaneo, Gustavo Dudamel, and Claudio Abbado. In 2008 and 2009, international tours with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra took him to numerous concert halls in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
