Dear music lovers,

It is our pleasure to welcome pianist Myriam Barbaux-Cohen back to the music studio. This time she will be performing alongside violinist Jean-Samuel Bez, and together they will present a melodious selection of works by Franz Schubert and Mel Bonis.

Myriam Barbaux-Cohen captivates audiences with her subtle sound, poetic depth and special commitment to rarely performed works. Her highly acclaimed albums on Granados and Bonis have earned her several Opus Klassik nominations. Trained in Gennevilliers and at the Rachmaninov Conservatory in Paris, she combines 19th/20th century repertoire with contemporary music and works closely with today’s composers.

Jean-Samuel Bez is a passionate chamber musician with a strong focus on contemporary music. His extensive discography, his work in the Trio Spilliaert and collaborations with artists from a wide range of genres demonstrate his stylistic openness. As a prize winner in several competitions and artistic director of the SineMuro festival, he shapes a variety of musical projects.

Myriam Barbaux-Cohen

Pianist Myriam Barbaux-Cohen is known for her great sensitivity and a very personal, poetic approach to music. Her repertoire is characterised by emotional depth and subtle nuances. Her two albums, dedicated to Enrique Granados (2020) and Mel Bonis (2022) and released on the Ars Produktion label, reflect her commitment to rarely performed works, in particular the rediscovery of female composers.

Her first album featuring works by Granados was unanimously praised by the trade press (Diapason, Classica, Crescendo Magazine, Wiener Zeitung). Her clarity of playing, the diversity of her tonal palette and a virtuosity that is always at the service of poetry were highlighted. She received a nomination at the Opus Klassik awards in 2020 for this album.

With her second album, dedicated to the music of Mel Bonis, Myriam Barbaux-Cohen offers a nuanced and inspired interpretation of a dense yet subtle oeuvre that combines power and expression.

In 2022, she received two further nominations at the Opus Klassik awards – in the categories Solo Album and Young Talent – underscoring the international recognition of her artistic work.

She is a prize winner of the Prix de Piano and the Prix de Musique de Chambre des Conservatoire de Gennevilliers and also completed her concert exam at the Serge Rachmaninov Russian Conservatory in Paris.

True to her desire to champion original repertoires, Myriam Barbaux-Cohen regularly programmes works by 19th- and 20th-century composers. At the same time, she has a particular interest in contemporary music, collaborating with today’s composers and performing their works at concerts and contemporary music events.
